Karnataka and CIDCO Plan New Airports
The Karnataka government is looking for a company to help them decide where to build a second airport in Bengaluru.
They have three possible places in mind: Choodahalli, Somanahalli, and Nelamangala.
The chosen company will study things like weather, land, water, and how the airport will affect people and businesses.
They need to finish their report in five months.
The current airport is very busy, and the government thinks they will need another one by 2033.
Meanwhile, CIDCO is planning a third runway at the Navi Mumbai International Airport to meet future aviation needs.
The airport is being built in phases and will have a total capacity of 90 million passengers per year by 2037.
Karnataka has invited tenders to select a consultancy firm for a feasibility study on a second airport in Bengaluru.
Three sites have been identified: Choodahalli, Somanahalli, and Nelamangala.
The selected firm must submit a detailed report within five months, studying various parameters like rainfall, infrastructure, and economic impact.
CIDCO has initiated the process to appoint a consultant for a techno-commercial feasibility study for a third runway at Navi Mumbai International Airport.
Navi Mumbai International Airport is being developed in phases, with a total capacity of 90 million passengers per year by 2037.
