Uttar Pradesh Deploys GNSS Rovers to Digitise Land Surveys
Uttar Pradesh is using special satellite-connected devices to measure land.
These devices are called GNSS Rovers.
They help surveyors find the exact position of land boundaries.
The state has 504 Rovers for surveys, maps, and training.
Most of them have been sent to local tehsils and urban local bodies.
The devices can make digital maps and calculate land areas.
They can reduce mistakes and the time needed for surveys.
They may also reduce the need to walk repeatedly through crops.
Officials say this will make land records more organized and easier to check.
Uttar Pradesh has 504 GNSS Rovers available for land surveys and mapping.
Of these, 350 have been supplied to tehsils for field surveys.
Another 143 Rovers are being used for map projects across 10 ULBs.
Two Rovers are deployed at the Consolidation Training Centre in Hardoi.
GNSS technology can measure locations with approximately 1-to-5-centimetre accuracy.
- Who
- The Uttar Pradesh Revenue Department, under the Yogi Government, is deploying the GNSS Rovers; Kanchan Verma described the rollout.
- What
- The state is digitising land measurement, boundary demarcation, cadastral mapping, and related map projects using 504 GNSS Rovers.
- When
- The deployment and survey work were reported on September 14; a related Section-24 campaign ran from July 1 to August 15.
- Where
- Across Uttar Pradesh, including tehsils, 10 Urban Local Bodies, and the Consolidation Training Centre in Hardoi.
- Why
- To make land surveys faster, more accurate, digital, and easier to verify while reducing errors, costs, manpower needs, and potential crop damage.
