April Auto Sales: Passenger Vehicles Rise; Two-Wheelers Dip Sharply
In India, the car market is doing well, with more cars being sold than ever before.
But, fewer people are buying motorcycles and scooters.
The car sales went up by 4% in April compared to last year.
Motorcycle and scooter sales went down a lot, about 17%.
This is partly because the car market did really well last year, so it's harder to beat those numbers.
The whole auto industry is also making changes to meet new rules.
Passenger vehicle dispatches rose 4% year-on-year to 3,48,847 units in April.
Two-wheeler dispatches declined 17% year-on-year to 14,58,784 units.
Motorcycle dispatches declined 23% year-on-year.
Three-wheeler sales saw a marginal dip.
The auto industry transitioned to new regulatory regimes in April 2025.
