VMC Prioritizes Scientific Waste Management, Urges Public Participation in Parks
The city of Vijayawada wants to keep its streets and parks very clean.
The person in charge of the city, Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra, held a big meeting about garbage.
He told workers to sort trash into four different groups.
People should put each kind of trash into a bin with a special color.
This helps workers recycle things instead of just throwing them away.
The city wants to turn trash into something useful, which they call 'Waste to Wealth.'
Garbage collected from homes will be taken to a place called Jindal.
The commissioner also visited a park to check that it is clean and nice.
He wants people to take care of parks like they are their own homes.
Some parks even have outdoor gyms so people can exercise outside.
VMC Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra directed officials to prioritize scientific solid waste management and greater public participation in maintaining parks and greenery.
Officials were told to create awareness on segregating waste into four categories and disposing of it in designated colour-coded bins under the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
Household waste must be transported to Jindal without delay, with emphasis on the 'Waste to Wealth' approach to generate value from waste.
The Commissioner inspected a park in APIIC Colony during a field visit, reviewing its facilities, sanitation and greenery.
VMC is developing parks as pleasant, healthy spaces and has established open gyms in some parks to promote physical fitness.
