Indian Cyclists Eliminated From Commonwealth Games Points Race
At the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, two Indian cyclists, Harshveer Singh Sekhon and Dinesh Kumar, tried to race in a 40‑kilometre points race.
Harshveer didn’t finish his first heat, and Dinesh came in 11th out of 12.
Because only the top nine riders stay in the race, both were knocked out.
The race was held at the Chris Hoy velodrome.
Another Indian cyclist, Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam, is still in the competition and will race in the 1000‑metre time trial later that day.
Harshveer Singh Sekhon was eliminated after failing to finish heat 1 of the men's 40km points race.
Dinesh Kumar finished 11th of 12 riders and was also eliminated.
Elimination occurred during the qualifying round at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Only the last three riders in each heat are eliminated from the points race.
Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam remains a contender, set to compete in the men's 1000m Time Trial final.
