Mizoram to Commence Biometric Enrollment for Myanmar Refugees
Mizoram is starting to collect information, like fingerprints, from over 32,000 people who came from Myanmar.
This helps the government know who is there.
The goal is to identify them, not to send them away.
They will use computers and cameras for this, and it will happen in all parts of Mizoram.
This is due to the 2021 military coup.
They're also helping people from Bangladesh and Manipur.
Mizoram will begin biometric enrollment for over 32,000 Myanmar refugees.
The enrollment aims to identify displaced individuals from Myanmar's Chin State.
The process will occur across all eleven districts of Mizoram this month.
The enrollment is purely for identification and not connected to deportation.
The process will use the Foreigner Identification Portal developed by the NIC.
