DHR Launches Jungle Safari Toy Train Service
The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway has started a new toy train service called 'Jungle Safari' that runs between Siliguri and Ghayabari every weekend.
This service is a short, scenic journey that takes passengers through beautiful hills and green landscapes.
The train stops at a famous spot called Agony Point Loop, where it looks like it's hanging over a gorge.
The journey is affordable, with a fare of ₹500 per person, and can carry about 70 passengers at a time.
The DHR hopes this service will help preserve the historic railway and support local tourism.
The train is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its amazing engineering, including loops and curves that help it climb steep hills.
DHR introduced 'Jungle Safari' toy train service between Siliguri and Ghayabari, 30km apart.
Service launched on January 17, runs every weekend, and is a collaboration with a Siliguri-based private agency.
Round trip operates with three coaches, accommodating around 70 passengers per trip, hauled by a diesel locomotive.
Journey offers panoramic views of Darjeeling’s hills, lush green vegetation, and scenic mountain landscapes, with a notable halt at Agony Point Loop.
Fare for the Jungle Safari service is fixed at ₹500 per head, aiming to make it affordable and accessible.
