Hariyali Teej is a colourful festival that people in Rajasthan celebrate when the monsoon rains arrive.

It is a special day for Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva.

Many women dress up in bright, colourful clothes and wear green Leheriya sarees.

They put mehendi on their hands, sing folk songs, and dance traditional dances.

On August 15, 2026, there was a big royal procession at the City Palace in Jaipur.

The beautiful idol of Teej Mata was carried proudly through the old palace gates and streets.

Camels, horses, royal palanquins and hundreds of folk artists joined the parade.

People celebrated with music and dancing in Jaipur's old bazaars.

The festival is also celebrated in states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

People take part in these rituals to pray for happiness and good fortune in their marriages.
