Pingara FPC Supports Areca Farmers with Labor and Maintenance
In Dakshina Kannada, an organization called Pingara FPC is helping areca farmers.
They're stepping in because it's hard for farmers to find enough workers.
The FPC will do important jobs like spraying medicine, cutting weeds, putting down fertilizer, picking the areca nuts, and taking them to dry.
Farmers will pay for the labor and the fertilizer.
When the areca nuts are ready to sell, they have to sell them through the FPC.
The FPC will take a small fee.
The FPC already has a group of workers and many members to make this happen.
Pingara Horticulture Farmers’ Producer Company (FPC) in Dakshina Kannada will assist areca farmers with plantation maintenance.
The FPC aims to alleviate labor shortages and support farmers facing difficulties.
Services include fungicide spraying, weed cutting, manure application, harvesting, and transport of arecanuts.
Farmers pay actual labor costs and can choose to buy manure or have the FPC purchase it.
Produce must be sold through the FPC, which charges a 5% commission, with storage provided at no cost.
