India's Real Wages Projected to Rise in FY25
Imagine your paycheck buys more stuff!
That's what's happening with real wages in India.
After a tough couple of years, wages are expected to grow by 7% this year.
This is because things are getting cheaper (lower inflation), thanks to good weather that helps farmers.
The private sector makes up a big chunk of wages, but the public sector also plays a role.
Experts think wages will continue to grow, but bad weather or problems with trade could slow things down.
It means people in India will be able to afford more things with their income.
Real wages in India are estimated to have grown by 7% in FY25.
This growth is attributed to benign inflation due to a favourable monsoon.
In FY24, real wage growth was at a modest 5.5%, the lowest in the post-pandemic period.
The private sector accounted for 42.8% of overall real wages in FY24.
Real wage growth could face downward pressures due to adverse weather events or geopolitical issues.
