Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia vow to appeal Brij Bhushan's acquittal
A Delhi court said that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who used to run the Wrestling Federation of India, did not do what the women wrestlers said he did.
The court also cleared another man named Vinod Tomar.
Six women wrestlers, including famous Olympic wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia, said they were scared and that the court and the government helped protect Brij Bhushan.
They are not happy with the decision and want to ask a higher court to look at the case again.
Brij Bhushan said he was happy and that the court was right.
The wrestlers are still fighting for justice.
Delhi court acquitted former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and co-accused Vinod Tomar on Aug 3, 2026.
Six female wrestlers, including Olympians Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia, filed the case alleging sexual harassment from 2016‑2019.
Wrestlers claim the court and government protected Singh and plan to appeal the verdict.
Phogat and Punia say other wrestlers were intimidated into withdrawing complaints and express disappointment with the ruling.
Brij Bhushan welcomed the acquittal, calling it a matter of joy for him and his supporters.
