Nagaland Congress Protests, Demands Chief Election Commissioner’s Resignation Over SIR

The Nagaland Congress held a protest in Dimapur on October 3.

The party wants Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign.

It says a review of voter lists has taken many people’s names off the rolls.

Apok Jamir, a Congress leader, said more than 13 crore voters had been removed.

That number and the criticism are claims made by the party.

The march started at Congress Bhavan and ended at Town Hall.

Party workers burned an effigy of Kumar there.

Jamir also criticized elected representatives who changed political parties, saying they may have faced pressure or offers.

He said voters would judge those choices in future elections.
