CWG 2026: India Faces Tougher Medal Prospects
The Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow will have fewer sports than before.
India, which usually wins many medals in sports like wrestling, badminton, and hockey, will have fewer chances to win because these sports are not included.
This makes it harder for India to get as many medals as they did in the last Games.
They will focus on sports like athletics, boxing, and weightlifting, but it will be tough to match their previous success.
Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow will feature only 10 sports, down from 19 in Birmingham 2022.
India's key medal-winning sports like wrestling, badminton, hockey, and table tennis are excluded.
India won 61 medals in Birmingham 2022, with 30 coming from sports not included in Glasgow 2026.
Wrestling alone contributed 12 medals for India in Birmingham 2022.
India's contingent for Glasgow 2026 will be reduced to 125 athletes from 215 in Birmingham 2022.
