US Deports Jewelry Heist Suspect Before Trial
A man named Jeson Nelon Presilla Flores was accused of being part of a very big jewelry robbery in the US.
The stolen items were worth $100 million.
He was supposed to go to trial, but instead, he was sent back to his home country, Ecuador.
This means he won't have to face the charges in the US.
The people who lost their jewelry are upset because they think the system has a problem that needs to be fixed.
The man could still be prosecuted if he ever comes back to the US.
Jeson Nelon Presilla Flores, a suspect in a $100 million jewelry heist, was deported to Ecuador in December 2025 before his trial.
Flores was one of seven men charged with the heist, which involved stealing diamonds, emeralds, gold, rubies, and luxury watches from a Brinks truck in July 2022.
Flores pleaded not guilty in June 2025 but later admitted to the allegations during an immigration hearing and requested deportation to Chile, ultimately being sent to Ecuador.
Federal prosecutors were unaware of Flores' immigration detainer and expressed surprise at his deportation, which led to the dismissal of the criminal case.
The deportation has left the victims, primarily jewelers who lost their merchandise, without answers and has exposed a perceived gap in the US legal system.
