Madhya Pradesh withdraws land pooling scheme
The government in Madhya Pradesh has decided to stop a plan to take farmland in Ujjain for building projects related to the 2028 Simhastha Kumbh festival.
This decision came after farmers, who were upset about losing their land, threatened to protest.
The farmers were worried that their fertile land would be used for permanent buildings.
The government first said they would only use the land for roads and drains, but the farmers didn't believe them.
Now, the government has completely cancelled the plan, but the farmers are still not happy and plan to protest anyway.
Madhya Pradesh government withdrew land pooling scheme in Ujjain after farmer opposition.
Schemes 8, 9, 10, and 11 of Ujjain Development Authority were cancelled.
Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) threatened protests starting December 26.
Farmers opposed the scheme, fearing loss of fertile land for permanent construction.
Government initially modified the scheme but later fully withdrew it.
