BSE F&O Premium Turnover Surges 1,539%
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has seen a huge increase in its futures and options (F&O) trading, with a 1,539% rise in daily premium turnover over two years.
This growth happened even though there were stricter rules from the market regulator, Sebi.
Experts say more traders are using Sensex contracts, and BSE has added more big clients.
Meanwhile, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) saw a drop in its daily premium turnover by 24.3% from its highest point in 2024.
Overall, the total turnover for both exchanges fell by 11.2%.
BSE's growth is due to better positioning of its Sensex index options and adding new brokers and clients.
The exchange's revenue also grew by 40% in the September quarter, mainly from derivatives and listing activities.
NSE's turnover fell in both the cash and futures segments.
BSE's F&O average daily premium turnover surged 1,539% over two years, reaching Rs 15,325 crore as of last Tuesday.
NSE's average daily premium turnover fell 24.3% from its 2024 peak of Rs 68,280 crore.
Overall turnover across both exchanges declined by 11.2%.
BSE's growth is attributed to Sensex contracts attracting traders and increased institutional participation.
BSE's total revenue in Q2 2025 was Rs 1,139 crore, up 40% year-on-year, driven by derivatives and listing activities.
