Telangana High Court Denies Relief to GITAM on Power Dues
GITAM University in Hyderabad had its electricity cut off because it owes ₹18 crore.
The university says the debt is not theirs but belongs to another company owned by the same people.
The court said the university might have to pay half the money to get the electricity back.
The court will decide more on December 24.
Around 8,000 students are affected by the power cut.
GITAM University's electricity supply was disconnected due to ₹18 crore in outstanding dues.
The university argues the dues belong to VBC Ferro Alloys Ltd, not the university itself.
The court suggested restoring power upon payment of 50% of the outstanding amount.
The disconnection has affected academic and administrative activities, impacting 8,000 students.
The next court hearing is scheduled for December 24.
