Congress, RJD Set Four Direct Contests In Bihar MLC Polls

Bihar is holding elections for eight seats in its Legislative Council.

Four seats are for graduates and four are for teachers.

Congress and RJD are usually allies in the Opposition alliance.

However, they have chosen candidates against each other in four constituencies.

These are Patna Graduates, Kosi Graduates, Darbhanga Graduates and Patna Teachers.

Congress is also contesting Darbhanga Teachers, but RJD has not announced a candidate there.

Other parties, including JD(U) and Jan Suraaj Party, have also nominated candidates in some constituencies.

People will vote on October 23, and officials will count the votes on October 27.

The parties may still agree to avoid some contests before nominations close.
