Assam, Meghalaya Near Border Deal; New MoU Expected August 15
Assam and Meghalaya are working to solve their border problems.
They plan to sign a new agreement on August 15th.
This agreement might give Meghalaya control of five villages.
It's like they are drawing lines on a map to decide which state owns what land.
They already made a deal in 2022 to solve some issues, and now they are working on the harder ones.
There was a small fight recently, but the states are still trying to get along and agree on where the borders should be.
Assam and Meghalaya are close to resolving their border dispute with a second MoU.
The new MoU is expected to be signed on August 15th, potentially bringing five villages under Meghalaya's jurisdiction.
This follows the first phase of the agreement in March 2022, which resolved issues in six areas.
Skirmishes occurred earlier this week in West Jaintia Hills district.
Negotiations are progressing in other disputed sectors, including Langpih.
