NMMSS 2026-27 Application Deadline Extended to September 30
The government has given students more time to apply for a school scholarship.
They can now apply until September 30, 2026.
Students must first complete a one-time registration on the National Scholarship Portal.
Their schools and district officials must check the applications by deadlines in October.
The scholarship is for eligible students from families with lower incomes.
Students need to meet marks, school, and selection-test requirements.
Selected students receive ₹12,000 each year in their bank accounts.
The program is meant to help students stay in school from Class 9 through Class 12.
The Ministry of Education extended the NMMSS 2026-27 application deadline to September 30, 2026.

As of August 31, 2026, the portal had received 79,398 fresh and 1,87,208 renewal applications.
Institute Nodal Officers must complete Level 1 verification by October 15, followed by District Nodal Officer verification by October 31, 2026.
The scheme provides ₹12,000 annually to eligible Class 9 students, with renewals available through Class 12.
