Cattle Futures Dip on Profit-Taking and Lower Beef Prices
Cattle futures, which are like bets on the future price of cows, went down for the fourth day in a row.
This is because people who bet on the prices of cattle are selling them to make a profit after the prices got high.
Beef prices are also down, and fewer people are buying beef because summer is ending.
Even though the price went down, cattle supplies are low and beef companies are making money.
Meanwhile, bets on the price of pigs went up.
CME cattle futures declined for the fourth consecutive session.
Lower beef prices and slowing demand contributed to the drop.
October live cattle futures closed lower at 235.975 cents per pound.
Wholesale choice boxed beef value fell to $410.76 per cwt.
October lean hog futures increased to 96.025 cents per pound.
