Ganesha Visarjan Teaches Renewal, Humility and Inner Peace

Ganesha Visarjan Teaches Renewal, Humility and Inner Peace

Ganesh festival lasts for 10 days and celebrates Lord Ganesha.

Families bring a clay idol home and use prayers and rituals to welcome him.

They care for the idol as if Ganesha were a member of the family.

At the end, they carry the idol in a joyful farewell procession.

They chant “Ganapati Bappa Morya” and immerse the idol in water.

This ritual is called visarjan.

It reminds people that life changes and that everything eventually returns to nature.

Ganesha’s broken tusk also teaches that difficult goals may require sacrifice and determination.

His appearance reminds people to be wise, patient, focused, humble and respectful.
