Western Railway Plans 45-Day Flyover Rebuild for Mumbai Line
Western Railway wants to fix a big bridge in Mumbai in just 45 days instead of 90.
The bridge is in the way of a new train track that will help more trains run faster.
They will use special building blocks to finish the work quickly.
While the bridge is being rebuilt, some trains on the Harbour Line may stop or run less often.
After the new track is ready, Mumbai will have more train space and fewer delays.
Western Railway aims to rebuild the Bandra–Khar flyover in 45 days, cutting the shutdown from 90 days.
The flyover rebuild is essential for completing the Mumbai Central–Borivali sixth railway line under MUTP Phase‑II.
Reconstruction will use precast construction technology and advanced engineering to minimize passenger disruption.
During the 45‑day block, Harbour Line services between Bandra and Goregaon will likely be suspended or curtailed.
The sixth line will increase capacity, separate suburban and long‑distance trains, and improve punctuality.
