Police in Kaushambi arrested Shakeel Ahmed in connection with an illegal firecracker factory blast.

The blast on August 31 killed 14 people, according to the reports.

Police said Ahmed was the last named suspect still wanted in the case.

Officers found him on a motorcycle while he was allegedly trying to leave the area.

They said he fired at them with a homemade pistol.

Police then fired back, and Ahmed was injured in the left leg.

A pistol, bullets and the motorcycle were recovered, officials said.

His house in Mahmoodpur village was later demolished, and legal proceedings are continuing.
