Delhi Requires Schools to Electrify Bus Fleets by 2030

Delhi has made a plan for schools to use more electric buses.

Schools must make at least 10% of their buses electric within two years.

The target goes up to 20% by the third year.

By March 2030, at least 30% of school buses must be electric.

The rule applies whether schools own the buses, lease them or hire them.

Delhi’s education department can connect compliance with school recognition and affiliation.

In August 2025, 24 electric school buses were launched at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya.

The new policy sets a city-wide path for more schools to follow.
