Delhi Metro Ridership Hits Record During DTC Bus Strike

Delhi’s metro carried more passengers than ever before on Thursday.

It recorded 82.44 lakh passenger boardings in one day.

Usually, about 64 lakh people use the metro each day.

Many more people used it because Delhi Transport Corporation bus drivers were on strike.

The drivers are asking for higher wages.

The strike had reached its fourth day on Friday.

A workers’ union said more than 80% of the public bus system had stopped operating.

The union estimated that over 10,000 drivers were taking part.
