Delhi HC Hears Plea on Wangchuk's Hospitalisation
Sonam Wangchuk, a well-known activist, has been on a hunger strike for over 20 days to support students protesting exam irregularities.
His wife, Gitanjali, went to the Delhi High Court because she believes he was taken to the hospital against his will to stop his protest.
The family says the hospital and police are not being transparent about his health.
The authorities and doctors say he needs medical care because he is very weak.
The court had earlier said his health should be checked every day, but the family thinks the court did not order hospitalisation.
The family wants him to be moved to a hospital of their choice and wants to be able to see him and talk to his doctors.
Sonam Wangchuk's wife filed a petition in Delhi High Court alleging illegal confinement.
Wangchuk was hospitalised on 18th July against his will, per family claims.
Family disputes medical findings, alleging lack of transparency and access.
Authorities state hospitalisation was per court order and medical advice.
Court order mandated health monitoring but family argues it did not mandate hospitalisation.
