Rajasthan Translocates Tiger to Mukundra Hills
The forest department in Rajasthan moved a tiger named T-2408 from Ranthambore to Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve.
This was done to help increase the number of tigers in Mukundra Hills.
The tiger is 4 years old and was carefully moved after being checked by doctors and fitted with a tracking device.
It was then taken to Mukundra Hills where it was released.
There are now 6 tigers in Mukundra Hills.
The tiger might mate with a tigress named Kanakati, who was also brought from Ranthambore earlier.
Since 2008, 24 tigers have been moved from Ranthambore to different places to help increase their numbers.
Rajasthan forest department translocated tiger T-2408 from Ranthambore to Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve.
The translocation was approved by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) and followed all protocols.
The 4-year-old tiger was tranquilized, examined, fitted with a radio collar, and transported under tight security.
With this translocation, the number of tigers in Mukundra Hills has reached six.
The tiger is likely to mate with tigress Kanakati, who was also brought from Ranthambore earlier.
