Iran, Oman Set New Strait of Hormuz Routes Amid Tensions

Iran and Oman have agreed on new routes for ships entering and leaving the Strait of Hormuz.

They plan to explain the routes to other Gulf countries at a meeting in Muscat on Monday.

The waterway is receiving special attention because tensions in West Asia are high.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said BRICS countries should work together without depending on trade controlled by United States sanctions.

He said these countries should support one another.

BRICS officials said talking and using diplomacy are the best ways to solve conflicts.

BRICS leaders also asked countries to avoid actions that could make tensions worse.

They called for civilians and civilian buildings to be protected.

They also said global trade, energy and supply chains should keep moving under international law.
