₹3,050-Crore Godavari Water Grid Targets Rural Drinking Water
A large project is being built to provide drinking water to people in several Godavari districts.
The water will be taken from the Godavari River and cleaned before it reaches homes.
More than 500 kilometres of pipes will be laid.
New tanks and water treatment plants will also be constructed.
The project aims to serve more than 58 lakh people.
It is expected to be finished by March 2027.
The Central and state governments will each pay half of the cost.
Officials still need to solve some road and land issues, while industries have been asked to prevent waste from entering the river.

The Amarajeevi Jaladhara project is scheduled for completion by March 2027, before the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu.
More than 500 kilometres of pipelines, overhead tanks, and water treatment plants will be built.
Water will reach 458 villages in Konaseema, 234 villages in Kakinada, and 931 villages in West Godavari.
Road congestion, land acquisition, and industrial effluent discharges into the Godavari remain challenges.
