High Court Grants Pension to Mother After 14 Years
A mother named Kalawati lost her son, Hari Har Mohan, who was a Sanskrit teacher.
He died in 2011, and she asked for financial help from the government.
The government said no because her husband gets a pension.
But the court said that's not fair and told the government to give her the money her son would have earned until he was supposed to retire.
The court also said she should get a family pension.
The government has to pay her with extra money for waiting, and if they wait too long, they have to pay even more.
Punjab and Haryana High Court granted pension to Kalawati, mother of deceased Sanskrit teacher Hari Har Mohan.
Hari Har Mohan died in 2011 while earning Rs 38,570, leaving his mother dependent on him.
Lower courts denied Kalawati's claim due to her husband's pension, but the High Court overturned this decision.
The High Court ruled that Kalawati's eligibility is governed by the Family Pension Scheme, 1964, which includes parents of unmarried deceased employees.
The court directed Haryana to pay arrears with 6% interest, increasing to 9% if payment is delayed beyond three months.
