TGSRTC Union Polls Deal Setback to Congress-Backed Alliance

TGSRTC Union Polls Deal Setback to Congress-Backed Alliance

Employees of Telangana’s road transport corporation voted for their unions on October 9.

A group backed by Congress was expected to do well, but reports say it fell behind.

The CPI-affiliated Employees’ Union and its partners received strong support.

In Greater Hyderabad, the Congress-backed group reportedly won only three of 26 units.

The Employees’ Union received 4,580 more state-level votes than the Telangana Workers’ Union, according to the reported figures.

Party leaders are reviewing the result and possible reasons for the alliance’s performance.

These include weak campaigning and limited involvement by some local leaders, according to reports.

Postal ballots are scheduled for October 14 and 15.

The official results are expected on October 17.
