UPSC Implements AI Facial Authentication for Exams
The UPSC, which runs important government tests, is now using AI to quickly check people's faces.
This helps make sure everyone taking the test is who they say they are, and they are matched to the photo they registered with.
This was tested in Gurugram, India.
The new system can verify a person in only 8-10 seconds.
This is to improve security and speed up the process.
They plan to use it for all exams, including the civil services exams, after the pilot was successful.
UPSC conducted a pilot program for AI-enabled facial authentication.
The technology aims to strengthen exam integrity and enhance candidate entry.
The pilot program was developed with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD).
The pilot was conducted during NDA and CDS examinations on September 14, 2025.
The system digitally matches facial images with registration photos, with verification taking 8-10 seconds.
