Shrimp Seed Lease Dispute in East Godavari
There is a disagreement between fishermen in two places, Dowleswaram and Bobbarlanka, about who can collect shrimp seeds.
The government officials from both areas had a meeting to talk about this problem.
They found out that the fishermen in Bobbarlanka don't have their own group yet, and the fishermen in Dowleswaram have been collecting shrimp seeds from many gates and sending them to other states.
The officials said that until Bobbarlanka fishermen form their own group, they can't collect shrimp seeds.
They also said that if anyone damages the barrage, they will have to pay for it.
Officials from East Godavari and Konaseema districts met to resolve a long-standing dispute over shrimp seed collection between fishermen.
The dispute involves fishermen from Dowleswaram and Bobbarlanka over lease rights and collection areas.
Bobbarlanka fishermen are not yet registered as a separate cooperative society.
Dowleswaram fishermen collect shrimp seeds from 70 barrage gates and supply them to Telangana and Karnataka.
Bobbarlanka fishermen collect from 43 gates, but their lease is suspended until they form a cooperative society.
