National Developers Target Mumbai’s Luxury and Redevelopment Market

National Developers Target Mumbai’s Luxury and Redevelopment Market

Big property companies from across India are trying to build more homes in Mumbai.

They are especially interested in expensive luxury homes because many wealthy buyers want them.

In the first half of 2026, luxury homes costing at least Rs 10 crore had sales worth Rs 18,512 crore.

Since much of Mumbai is already built up, developers are also rebuilding older properties instead of buying large empty plots.

They are using partnerships and agreements to enter the city while reducing some costs and risks.

DLF’s first Mumbai project sold more than Rs 2,300 crore worth of homes in its first phase.

However, building in Mumbai is difficult because land is expensive and approvals can take time.

Developers that understand local neighborhoods and customer needs may have the best chance of succeeding.
