Delhi HC Refuses NIA Probe Plea
The Delhi High Court recently refused to consider a request to have the National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigate a protest that happened on July 20.
The protest was about a suspected leak in the NEET exam.
The court said that only the Central Government can decide if the NIA should investigate, not the court.
The person who asked for the investigation, Satish Kumar Aggarwal, believed there was a bigger plot involving foreign groups and politicians.
The court also mentioned that if the government wants to involve the NIA, it can do so under the existing laws.
After the court's comments, the petitioner withdrew the request.
The Delhi High Court refused to entertain a PIL seeking an NIA probe into the July 20 'Sansad Chalo' protest.
The court stated that the decision to hand over an investigation to the NIA rests with the Central Government.
The petitioner, Satish Kumar Aggarwal, alleged a larger conspiracy involving foreign-funded organizations and political actors.
The court emphasized that the legal mechanism for such a referral is already available under the law.
The petitioner withdrew the PIL after the court's observations.
