HC Orders Revision of ASO Seniority List in Odisha
Imagine the government has a list of people who work in offices, and they have to decide who gets promoted first.
Some people were hired earlier, but the official list didn't put them at the top.
A judge said the people hired earlier should be higher on the list.
The judge also said people who got promoted should be ranked before the people who were hired directly in the same year.
Now, the government has to change the list to match the judge's decision, so the people hired earlier get the promotion opportunities they deserve.
Orissa High Court directed the state government to revise the ASO seniority list.
The verdict resolves a seniority dispute between different batches of ASOs.
The court ruled that seniority should be based on the actual appointment date.
ASOs appointed earlier in 2016 will be placed higher in the gradation list.
Promotees are to be treated as seniors to direct recruits of the same year.
