MEA Launches Upgraded Passport Services and e-Passports for Global Indian Citizens
India's government has updated its passport system to make things easier and more secure!
They've launched new versions of their passport programs for people both in India and in other countries.
These updates include helpful AI tools like chatbots to answer your questions and a much better website and app.
You can now fill out forms more easily and pay online using your phone.
The biggest change is the new e-Passports, which have a special computer chip inside to keep your information super safe, like a digital lock.
This makes getting a passport quicker and travel smoother for everyone.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has successfully rolled out Passport Seva Programme V2.0 (PSP V2.0) and Global Passport Seva Programme V2.0 (GPSP V2.0).
New e-Passports with embedded RFID chips for enhanced security have been introduced.
PSP V2.0 was implemented across all 37 Passport Offices, 93 PSKs, and 450 POPSKs in India on May 26, 2025.
GPSP V2.0 was launched across Indian Embassies and Consulates worldwide on October 28, 2025.
The upgraded system features AI-powered chat/voice bots, an improved website/app with auto-filled forms, and online payment options.
