India’s Unincorporated Sector Grows 9.2%, Adding More Jobs

India’s small, unincorporated businesses grew during April–June 2026.

Their estimated number increased to 8.67 crore.

The sector also employed 13.70 crore people, more than during the same period a year earlier.

Service businesses created much of the workforce growth.

Women made up more than 30% of the workers.

Urban employment grew faster than rural employment.

Many businesses used the internet and cashless payments.

These figures suggest that this part of the economy is becoming more digital and is creating more jobs.
