Prashant Bhushan Regrets Vilifying Manmohan Singh
Prashant Bhushan, a well-known lawyer and activist, has publicly said he is sorry for being part of a movement that criticized Manmohan Singh, who was India's Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014.
Bhushan used to be very critical of Singh, saying he allowed corruption to happen.
But now, he thinks he made a mistake.
He says Singh was a good and honest man, and the movement he was part of helped a bad government come to power.
Bhushan also thinks that the movement was supported by the BJP and RSS, who wanted to bring down the Congress government.
He also didn't like a movie about Singh that came out in 2019, saying it made Singh look bad.
Prashant Bhushan praised Manmohan Singh on his first death anniversary, expressing regret for participating in a movement that vilified him.
Bhushan was a key figure in the India Against Corruption (IAC) movement, which criticized Singh's government over alleged scams.
He previously questioned Singh's leadership, implying he allowed corruption to thrive under his prime ministership.
Bhushan acknowledged that the IAC movement was supported by the BJP and RSS to bring down the Congress government.
He criticized the 2019 biopic 'The Accidental Prime Minister' for reducing Singh to a 'pathetic caricature'.
