Nigam said the surgery was for a recurring growth on his left ring finger that returned for a second time after an operation about four months earlier, possibly due to an arthritis condition.
The performance was unplanned: his surgeon and admirer Dr. Nilesh Satbhai played his songs during the procedure, and Nigam sang about two or three songs while doctors recorded the moment.
Fans and fellow singers including Shreya Ghoshal, Mika Singh, Tony Kakkar, Vishal Mishra and Shirley Setia wished him a speedy recovery, while Nigam said he is not taking a break and has kept working after surgery.
