Snow Leopard Rescued From Himachal Hydroelectric Project
A rare snow leopard accidentally fell into a water channel at a dam in the snowy mountains of Himachal Pradesh.
Luckily, people from the forest department and police heard about it and came to help.
They made a careful plan to get the leopard out safely, not wanting to scare it too much.
The leopard was a bit shy at first but managed to climb out all by itself!
After a little walk, it went back into the forest.
This is a happy sign because it shows that these beautiful big cats are doing well and spreading into new areas, which is good for nature.
A snow leopard was rescued from a dam's filter inlet channel in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur district.
The rescue operation was conducted by forest officials, police, and the fire brigade at the Sanjay Hydroelectric Project.
The snow leopard climbed out of the inlet channel on its own after a rescue plan prioritized its safety.
The presence of snow leopards in this area indicates a positive trend in biodiversity and habitat connectivity.
Himachal Pradesh's snow leopard population has increased to 83, up from 51 in 2021, according to a recent report.
