Manipur Assembly Reports 306 Deaths Amid Prolonged Ethnic Conflict

Manipur has experienced a long conflict between several communities.

The state government says 306 people have died and 49 are still missing.

The violence began on May 3, 2023.

More than 60,000 people had to leave their homes.

The government says 36,000 people have returned or been resettled, but 24,000 are still living in relief camps.

Many people who returned still need money and jobs.

The conflict has also caused emotional and mental suffering.

Officials say rebuilding trust between communities is one of the biggest challenges.

Investigators are examining the killing of six Naga civilians.
