Gurgaon Residents Clash With GMDA Over Floodwater Pumps

Gurgaon Residents Clash With GMDA Over Floodwater Pumps

Heavy rain flooded part of South City II in Gurgaon.

Water entered homes and covered an internal colony road.

Residents turned on pumps to remove the water.

The pumped water was sent toward a main road.

GMDA officials said this could overload small roadside drains and harm public infrastructure.

They said residents should connect their drainage system to a master stormwater line instead.

Residents said they had no other choice because government drains were overflowing.

The residents’ association also said similar flooding had happened before.

Gurgaon received 80 millimetres of rain in the 24 hours beginning Monday morning.
