PM Modi's 'Dimaagi Naxals' Remark Draws Congress Fire

PM Modi's 'Dimaagi Naxals' Remark Draws Congress Fire

The prime minister of India gave a speech from a famous fort called the Red Fort.

In his speech, he called his political opponents 'dimaagi Naxals,' which means 'intellectual Naxals.'

Some politicians were angry about this name.

The Congress party said the remark is a sure sign of desperation.

A former government minister spoke out against the prime minister.

He said the prime minister first insults people as urban Naxals and later agrees with their demands.

He remembered that two years ago the prime minister called the demand for a caste census an urban Naxal idea.

A caste census is a big count of the people that records which social groups they belong to.

The minister said the government will still conduct such a census.

So the politicians think the prime minister's words do not match his actions.
