BIS Rules Only Natural Diamonds Can Be Called Diamonds
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has made a new rule about diamonds.
They say only real diamonds that come from nature can be called 'diamond'.
If a diamond is made in a lab, it must be called 'laboratory-grown diamond' or 'laboratory-created diamond'.
The BIS does not allow short names like 'LGD' or words like 'earth-friendly' for lab-made diamonds.
This rule helps people know exactly what they are buying.
The Natural Diamond Council and many jewelers support this rule because it makes things clearer and fairer for everyone.
