Bengal Silicon Valley Hub Progresses Rapidly
The Bengal Silicon Valley Hub in New Town, Kolkata, is making good progress.
Many companies that got land there have started building, and some are already working.
Big companies like TCS, Reliance, and Airtel Nxtra are involved.
The hub aims to create lots of jobs for IT professionals and help the local area grow.
The government hopes this will keep IT experts in Bengal instead of moving to other cities.
There are also other IT parks in the state that are filling up quickly.
31 of 41 companies allotted land in the Bengal Silicon Valley Hub have started construction, with 3 already operational and 7 near completion.
Major companies involved include TCS, Reliance, Airtel Nxtra, NTT, CtrlS, and ST Telemedia.
TCS's 20-acre campus is expected to employ 5,000 IT professionals.
The LTI Mindtree campus, a ₹2,000-crore project, will house around 25,000 IT professionals upon full completion, with Phase I expected by April–May 2026.
The state has 22 IT parks with about 70% overall occupancy, with parks in Siliguri and Calcutta fully occupied.
