Domestic Air Passenger Traffic Up in May
More people are flying within India!
In May, about 14.36 million people took domestic flights, which is a little more than last year.
Overall, for the months of April and May, there were even more passengers compared to last year.
Also, many more people are flying to other countries from India.
Experts think the airline business will keep growing, but things like the price of fuel and what's happening around the world might make things a bit tricky.
Domestic air passenger traffic in May reached 143.6 lakh, a 4.1% increase from the previous year.
For April-May, domestic air passenger traffic grew 6.2% year-over-year, totaling 286.8 lakh.
International passenger traffic for Indian carriers in April saw a 17.2% YoY growth, with approximately 30.1 lakh passengers.
FY25 domestic air passenger traffic reached 1,653.8 lakh, a 7.6% YoY increase and 16.8% higher than pre-Covid levels.
ICRA forecasts stable growth in the aviation industry, though rising costs and geopolitical factors warrant monitoring.
