Pakistan Begins Restoring Lahore’s Nehru Park, Historic Independence Movement Site
Pakistan is repairing an old park in Lahore called Nehru Park.
The park is important because a major Indian independence decision was made there in 1929.
The Indian National Congress called for complete independence from British rule at that meeting.
Jawaharlal Nehru also raised the Indian flag at the site.
Workers are adding grass, flowers, lights, benches and swings.
They will also repair the wall and add fountains and a cricket pavilion.
Students and civil society groups will help with the project.
Officials say the goal is to protect the park’s history while making it a better place for families.
