Anti-Quota Protest Splits Over Delegation’s Talks With Nadda

Anti-Quota Protest Splits Over Delegation’s Talks With Nadda

Different groups protesting caste-based reservations are arguing about who truly represents the movement.

A delegation led by Harsh Dubey met Health Minister J.P. Nadda.

The group asked for reservation to be based on economic conditions instead of caste.

It also called for removing a law protecting Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes from atrocities.

Anuradha Tiwari and other activists said Dubey’s group was not the legitimate representative.

One activist, Neha Das, also criticized some of Dubey’s demands.

Dubey said he had several hours of talks with the government and that a media briefing would happen on September 7.

The government has not confirmed that briefing or publicly addressed the delegation’s demands.
